Since I skipped church today, I thought I would give my thoughts on some scripture. This one is posted on my church’s web site.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24,25, New International Version
Churches, while sanctuaries in many respects, are full of people who, while good, loving, godly people, are also humanly fallible. I think that volunteers are particularly vulnerable to being hurt by slights. If someone at work is short with us–or yells at us–we usually suck it up. But when the same thing happens in a non-paying position, we aren’t quite so charitable.
This scripture is urging us to encourage each other to choose love and good deeds. We must continue to meet–to gather to worship and fellowship until Christ returns.
