While visiting some other blogs, I noticed that a lot of the writers didn’t mention names on their site. They and the people they wrote about were nice and anonymous. It got me thinking. How do I, “put it all out to the Universe to see what God has planned” but still protect the privacy of my family and dare I say, “protect” them. I mean, really, in this day and age, can we really protect anyone from anything? Isn’t it all just one big myth?
And, to be quite honest, I think that more people would read this if I printed it out and left it on the kitchen table than do online. But I am “putting it out there” and after thinking about it, realized that although privacy and protection are thin, wispy threads, I should afford my children what little privacy is available to them. So I went through and removed their names from the few postings that appeared. I know that if someone looked hard enough, he or she could easily match my blog to my name to my address, to my family. If I think about it too long, it will keep me awake at nights and I don’t need anything else to chew on, thank you.
It’s kinda funny, so many people put themselves out on the Internet but then try to retain some semblance of privacy at the same time. We want to be heard, but heard anonymously. I guess it makes us feel safe–another thin wispy thread in our world.
